What time does a direct transfer (like a standing order, but between 2 Abbey accounts!) leave my account?

I am abroad and am waiting for money from one account to get to my other account. I am stranded until I get the money! Help!!! I am 8 hours ahead, so I think it is about 2am in England. It should have moved accounts at midnight I thought? The transfer should be instant.
What time does a direct transfer (like a standing order, but between 2 Abbey accounts!) leave my account?
It probably varies from bank to bank, shouldn't be more than a couple of hours at most.
