There is no limit on how many times a debt can be sold and resold. However, only the original creditor and the one collection agency who is currently collecting on the debt can report to the credit bureaus.
Reply:Yes, it is negative as well. Usually the original creditor will report the account once the payment is past due. Then, they will sell charged off debts to collection agencies, and that collection account is reported on the credit report in addition to the original creditor's negative information.
