If your contract is ending your email account will be closed and you therefore will not receive any emails to that account - they will just be bounced back to the sender.
Reply:No, unless the company offers that service...

That is why we always use personal account for friends and newsletters we like to read, and a business account. for business. I would guess you need a gmail, yahoo, or other free on-line e-mail and transfer the e-mail addresses you need,

But urgently start informing everyone on your address list of your new e-mail address... (one e-mail account for friends, and one e-mail account for business networking).

If you might change your ISP in the future, that is also important not to use your ISP e-mail addresses... That is how AOL kept there installed base for such a long time... E-mail addresses, are an amazing hold on computer users.
Reply:Well yes and no, it really all depends on the company you worked for. When you started the contract, the I.T department created an email address for you. That email address most likely represents the company( like bjones@thecompanyyourworkfor.com) and not a public email company like hotmail or gmail.com. This means your contract company most likely will get rid (terminated) your work email account. Once your email is terminated, you can not get any of your emails from that address, EVEN if you forward your work emails to your personal email account. Sadly private work email is not like the U.S mail system where you can just forward it to your new address.

Now there are 3 ways to solve this issue.

#1, Ask the I.T department if they would leave your work email up for a couple weeks so you can do what you need with it. Ask them how to forward it to your personal email. You need POP3 and SMTP to forward your work email. We can help, ask us at Computers R SImple.com . The reality of this option is rare especially if your a contract worker! The I.T department will most likely have "marching" orders from the managers to delete your once you leave, so they might not listen to you.

#2 %26amp; #3. Email all your contacts and tell them that they can contact you at your new email address. Professional to Professional: Dont use your personal email, especially for work email. Create a" professional sounding email" . We also suggest you save/export your address book. This can be done by exporting your .CSV file (contacts calender and more). Now most email clients (like outlook) have an Export option under the File option (top left hand). If your company has its own email client that may not have an export option, then ask the I.T department about Exporting contacts. Now once you've selected what you want to export, it will save a file, which can be emailed to personal address, saved to flash drive, so on. Once you have the email client you use for your new/personal email, you can Import the file. As mention, most email clients and web email such as gmail, have a Import option.
