To activate the Windows Vista Administrator account, you will have to follow this closely. I have learned much and will be able to help. If you need to you may email me.

Log on to Vista, (if not already), and click the start button. In the search box, type CMD. You will see the link to Command Prompt (cmd.exe). Right click on the link and click "Run as Administrator." If it requires a password, then enter the password. If you do not remember the password, then this process may not continue.

Next, type the following at the User command line: Net user administrator /active:yes

If typed correctly, you will see a message declaring "command completed successfully" or similar saying.

Finally, go to the start button and click it. In the search box, type User. Click user accounts that pops up. If you have to, or do not see all the accounts on the screen but your own, click "Manage another account." You should now see your account, and also an account titled "Administrator." Click the icon next to Administrator. Click the link "Change the Password" or similar Add password link. Add a password to the administrator account and you are done. Now when you need to install software, you can log on to the Administrator Account.
